DAWN in Europe
"Discipling A Whole Nation" - an impossible
task? Our European nations mostly do not look like disciples of
Jesus. Old Christianity is fading away, postmodern diversity creates
many local and individual "truths". We may face the end
of institutionalized "Christendom", but the Church
- that unique creation that will stand against the gates of
hell - is alive. And every European man, woman and child has the
right to have easy access to a lively church - locally and culturally.
The DAWN European Network (DEN) is an unusual brotherhood
of European leaders, based on vision, values, synergy and friendship.
They are united by a common vision expressed in the DAWN
strategy.
We believe: every European man, woman and child
has the right to have easy access to a lively Christian church -
locally and culturally. Our postmodern
societies make this even more important - and offer exciting new
forms and models of church.
The DAWN European Network works to encourage the planting
of many new churches into our European cities and villages - in
a healthy and creative way and fed by horizontal
and vertical resources.
We want to network leaders who plant churches, no matter what kind.
We are excited at hundreds of House Churches
emerging everywhere in Europe and long to see them welcomed
as valid old-new expressions of Church. We see strategic
city networks emerging - Christians of a city or region taking
responsibility together for the discipling of their city - with
a transforming effect on society. And we are excited at the various
expressions of New Generation Churches.
We invite you to share your vision of what church is and how
it can multiply. We would love to hear
from you

A DAWN process is under way in several countries
of Western Europe.
General
overview over the situation in Western Europe
(Oct. 2000)
Every country has developed a different approach,
different names and structures, and the working style depends much
on the resources and manpower. Generally, DAWN is the only ministry
with focus on strategy and church planting, acting both trans-denominationally,
nationally and internationally. It serves in many countries as a
strategic think-tank.
In Eastern Europe and the former communist countries, we
closely cooperate with the Alliance
for Saturation Church Planting (Budapest)
Here are some concrete functions of DAWN in each country:
1. DAWN has put Church Planting on the Agenda and continues
to hold up the vision for the whole nation.
2. DAWN provides ressources - research, books, seminars
3. DAWN connects people - we make leaders from different backgrounds
talk together. In practice, DAWN often has reconciliatory and unifying
effects - unity under a vision.
4. DAWN supports church planters - morally by believing in them,
spiritually by organizing an intercessing network, practically by
teaching, counseling through regional seminars and webpage / e-mail.
5. DAWN serves as a catalyzer and bridge-builder for new forms of
churches that are emerging.

to me that this is a voice reminding the Church to keep the
vision alive. We also make resources available for Churches
and Church plants." Albert Walsweer

"Through DAWN, the focus on Church Planting has increased;
denominations have begun to start new churches. Also, DAWN
introduced NCD (Natural Church Development by Christian Schwarz)
- 120 churches are now involved in NCD." Oivind Augland
