The DAWN vision and strategy has always been based on information. Leaders need to hear from God through prayer - and to find out where churches need to be started. This is the task of research. 

Good research brings out facts that were not clear before. No one has ever been healed by a thermometer, but it indicates some basic facts about a body. In the same way, good research helps to distinguish the status of a country / a region and to determine where new churches are most needed. 

In 2004, something significant happened. Some of the main agencies in Europe joint forces, hands, manpower and computers to build a common European platform for missional research. The European Mission Research Group (emRG) was born - a Community of Practice of like-minded missions researchers built on the principles of an open-source network.
